What Aftercare Do You Recommend:
General Body Piercings:
-
Wash hands with an antibacterial soap, rinse your piercing front and back with a sterile saline solution, we sell this in the studio and can post it out if necessary. We do not recommend mixing your own at home.
-
Gently wipe away any crusties from the jewellery using a non-woven gauze or a cotton tipped applicator sprayed with the solution.
-
Use a dry non-woven gauze / cotton tipped applicator to gently dry the area after letting the solution sit for a couple of minutes.
-
At least once a day shower as normal the warm fresh water will help remove any stubborn debris, after your shower repeat the last two steps above.

Oral Piercings:
-
Brush teeth as usual morning and night, taking care not to catch the piercing
-
If you usually use mouthwash, continue doing so just make sure you’re using an alcohol free mouthwash.
-
Oral piercings will benefit from drinking plenty of ice water as the cold will help with any swelling and keeping hydrated will help your body heal.
-
Please keep your mouth to yourself this includes any food, drinks and other people's bodily fluids, this will help keep the risk of infection to a minimum.
-
Please refrain from running your new piercing across your teeth/gum line as it can cause permanent oral damage to the area.
General tips to help your piercing:
-
Any new piercing should only come into contact with clean and freshly washed fabrics
-
If needed place a non-woven dressing over any piercings getting caught or irritated.
-
We recommend using a travel pillow around your neck to help prevent you rolling onto your new piercing.
-
Similar to above we also say a pillow under the knees when laying on your back to sleep can prevent rolling.
-
Make sure you come back for any downsizes we recommend, we do usually recommend the 6-8week mark for most piercings but different piercings can vary we will always make sure to let you know the correct time frame in the studio.
Maintenance:
-
When you clean your new piercing try and make sure you clean it in a clock-wise motion to help prevent unscrewing the end.
-
For initial piercing we use longer jewellery to accommodate initial swelling and to accommodate cleaning.
-
After the swelling has gone down come into the studio for your downsize typically we recommend the 6-8 week mark, it does vary but we will always tell you when you're due in again.
-
Avoid swimming pools/saunas/hot tubs, anywhere you’re at risk of coming into contact with bacteria from other people you wouldn’t usually come into contact with.
-
If your piercing has been slept on/played with it can become irritated and cause a permeant change to the angle/look of your piercing we call this a shift, downsizing in a timely manner can help prevent this from happening.
Lumps and Bumps:
Bumps are common and usually occur when a piercing is irritated this can be caused by;
-
Touching/turning the jewellery
-
Applying makeup and skin care products around the area
-
Clothing catching/rubbing the piercing
-
Answering the phone on the side of a fresh piercing
-
Trauma caused to the area
-
Wearing earphones/headphones with fresh ear piercings
At the first sign of a bump go over the aftercare we mentioned earlier, if it doesn’t go down in a timely manner get in touch with us and we'll arrange getting you in for a check up.
